Much of Historic Charleston lies North of Broad Street. This program contains 3 easy walking or driving tours. One covers the Wraggsboro area and spots along Meeting Street near the Visitors Center. You'll see the Rhett Aiken Mansion, learn about Devil Dan Sickles, the Reconstruction military governor who changed the outcome of a presidential election, and pass by the original home of The Citadel. A second tour takes you through the French Quarter and City Market areas. Included in this tour are Chalmers Street, St. Philips Church and Waterfront Park. A third tour takes you through Harrelston Village to the haunted Old Jail where you will learn of Denmark Vessey and his slave rebellion before visiting the College of Charleston. It's a grand introduction to some of Charleson's oldest and newest attractions.
